This extension and refurbishment, breathing a new lease of life in to an Arts and Crafts house in Budleigh Salterton was carefully designed to respect the existing building whilst creating a contemporary addition. The contemporary extension mimics the form and materiality of the original dwelling, establishing a synergy between old and new. The clients wanted to create a light filled home making the most of the views and with strong connections to the garden, careful framing of countryside vistas enhances the integration of the landscape into the overall design.

A large open plan living/dining/kitchen space was an essential part of the brief and along with some significant internal alterations this tired house has been transformed into a beautiful home. The modern interior has played a transformative role, infusing brightness into what was once a dimly lit space. Replacing the windows help create a more comfortable environment inside the dwelling by improving its thermal performance.
